How to play Kaiju Alpha is not a hidden combo list. It is a set of habits that work on every kaiju because the engine pays you for damage, not for cinematic last hits. This page sits between the beginner guide and the cell farm guide. If you already know 1-5-R-T from the controls page, this is the “what to do in a live street” version.

The live game is a 25-player battleground. You will share islands with flyers, beam campers, and melee rushers. Update 45 added vote kick, so AFK farming in a corner is a good way to get sent back to the menu. Stay useful to the server: deal damage, break buildings, and do not body-block the same doorway for five minutes.

The scoring idea

EXP and Cells come from:

• Damage on other players
• Kills and assists
• Buildings and map props

Assists are the beginner secret. If your beam ticks five kaiju and someone else finishes them, you still get paid. That is why creators tell you to stand at range and “hit everything that moves.” Melee-only play can work, but you must be in the pile, and the pile also wants to kill you. Beams let you tax the pile from a hill.

Server choice

Join a busy public server. A quiet server is pretty and poor. If the spawn island is empty, hop. Look for dust, beams, and collapsed blocks. That skyline is your income. The farming tier list assumes you will play in that chaos. A “good kaiju” in an empty server is just a walking screenshot.

Spacing and strafing

Stand still and you eat every breath in the game. Circle strafe around the target so linear beams miss. When you fire your own beam, start it as people cross a street, not as they stare at you. For flyers, change height after you shoot so return fire has to lead. Save stamina for the sidestep after skill 5. Kiryu’s Absolute Zero cannon is a 100-second cooldown after Update 45; wasting the shot because you were rooted in someone else’s laser is the classic “I thought Kiryu was buffed?” complaint.

Roars in real fights

R and T are not emotes. Use a roar when you need knockback or a breath of space, then move. Never roar as an opener if your kit’s roar locks you out of skills. The controls page already said attacks cannot run during a roar. In a 1v1 that pause is a gift to the opponent. In a crowd it can still be worth it to shove three people off your tail.

Farming without being a punching bag

1. Get elevation or a long street.
2. Sweep beams across the densest group.
3. Clip buildings in the same pass.
4. When a high-level Titan looks at you, stop greed and fly or break line of sight.
5. Re-tag the group after they finish the duel.

You are not trying to 1v1 Monster Zero on a starter. You are trying to be on the damage table when Monster Zero dies. That mindset is also how you survive until the unlock guide says you can afford a real endgame kit.

First PvP rules

• Do not start every exchange. People telegraph long animations. Dodge, then punish.
• Keep one skill in pocket. Emptying 1-5 in a panic is how you die to a delayed beam.
• Do not chase into the ocean or off the map for pride. The Cells from the next street fight are worth more than a clip.
• Watch Update 45 matchups. Godzilla 2000 is faster. Kiryu hits harder on skill 5 and waits longer. Heisei was reworked. A pre-rework muscle memory will throw those duels.

When to stop “playing” and start planning

If you have a Cell stack and still lose because your kaiju has no range, that is a loadout problem, not a git-gud problem. Swap using the tier list and a build that matches how you already fight. If you only beam from hills, do not buy a pure grappler. If you only dive, do not buy a turret Godzilla and then complain it cannot run.

Play the server in front of you. The wiki’s endgame roster is a destination, not a homework assignment for night one.
